Education

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is passionate about the education of America's youth and supports a variety of different programs, contests and awards to help further this goal. The DAR website offers many different resources that teachers may find useful when they are teaching subjects such as the American Revolutionary War, family history/genealogy, the colonial period and early America. Teachers and students are encouraged to explore the available resources and take advantage of the different programs NSDAR offers.

Patriotic Endeavors

For over 125 years, the NSDAR has carried the torch of patriotism. Love of country was the purpose- ancestors who fought for freedom was the bond. These were the foundational underpinnings that connected women, uniting them to form an organization that would honor heritage and support endeavors that preserve the freedoms of our citizens, young and old. Patriotism is the foundation of the many NSDAR activities that take place in local communities across the country.

Historic Preservation

Throughout the history of the NSDAR Historic Preservation has been a main focus of the mission of the Society. NSDAR members participate in a wide variety of Historic Preservation projects as it is crucial to saving our history for future generations.

New Hampshire is proud to maintain the New Hampshire Children's Attic, one of multiple period rooms at the DAR Museum, located in Memorial Continental Hall in Washington, D.C.

Cathedral of the Pines Service

The Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, New Hampshire, is a national memorial dedicated to the memory and honor of all Americans who serve the nation. NHSODAR has hosted an annual Memorial Service at the majestic outdoor chapel since 1947. The Cathedral of the Pines event offers people from around the state, and across the country, the opportunity to come together for a time of fellowship and inspiration. Each year, a National Society officer or other distinguished guest, brings an inspiring message for guests to contemplate.

New Hampshire Chapters

Organized in 1892, the New Hampshire State Organization (NHSODAR) continues to work tirelessly to uphold and promote the objectives of the National Society. Kathleen (Kay) Sternenberg is our 52nd State Regent.

The NHSODAR is made up of twenty-five chapters from across the state. We actively seek new members in our service organization who are women 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
